We are delighted to announce our 2024 Global Wine Judging in Turkey, in partnership with Tuğrul Şavkay Turkish Wines Competition.

This is the second time the IWSC is heading to Istanbul to judge Turkish wines in situ. Last year, over 270 wines entered our Turkish Wine Judging and 180 medals were awarded.

Our international judges are excited to return to Turkey, known for its rich wine heritage and unique indigenous grape varieties.

The 2024 Wine Judging and a field trip in Turkey will take place from 30 May to 4 June. In addition to tasting and assessing the wine entries during the judging in Istanbul, our experts will also have a unique opportunity to travel outside the capital city - visiting the local producers and immersing themselves in Turkish wine culture.

This year, our judging team will be led by the IWSC Judging Committee member, Master of Wine Sarah Abbott. Sarah is known for her expertise in emerging wine regions and her deep knowledge of the Turkish wine scene.

Joining Sarah Abbott MW at the tasting table will be Master Sommelier Isa Bal. Originally from Turkey, Isa spent over a decade working in Michelin-starred restaurants in the UK, introducing undiscovered wines to the UK public and advocating emerging wine regions.

Producers entering the IWSC 2024 Wine Judging in Turkey will benefit from:

  • Discounted entry fee of £139 (when entering your wine(s), please select ‘Wine Judging in Turkey’ as your judging location).
  • Convenient local delivery to Istanbul.
  • Exposure of award-winning wines to the IWSC’s global audience.
  • Inclusion in the IWSC’s 2024 communication campaigns.
  • Access to a panel of internationally renowned wine judges.
The entries are now open on our website. You can find out more and enter your wines here. Entry deadline – 15 April 2024.
