Isa Bal embarked on his journey in the vibrant world of hospitality as a commis sommelier at The Vineyard at Stockcross. His passion for wine and dedication to the craft propelled him forward, earning him accolades and recognition on both national and international stages.
In 2008, Isa achieved the remarkable feat of being crowned the Best Sommelier of Europe, a testament to his exceptional skills and knowledge in the art of wine. Building upon this success, he continued to push the boundaries of his expertise, culminating in the attainment of his Master Sommelier certification in 2009.
For over a decade, Isa served as the Head Sommelier for the prestigious Fat Duck Group, where he curated unforgettable wine experiences for discerning guests. It was during this time that he forged a dynamic partnership with renowned Head Chef Jonny Lake, a collaboration that would later shape the landscape of fine dining.
In a bold move that showcased his entrepreneurial spirit, Isa joined forces with Jonny Lake to establish Trivet, a culinary haven nestled in Bermondsey. Their shared vision and commitment to excellence bore fruit when Trivet was awarded its inaugural Michelin Star, a testament to their unwavering dedication to culinary innovation and impeccable service.
Isa Bal is revered as one of the preeminent sommeliers in the global gastronomic community, revered for his encyclopedic knowledge of wines and his innate ability to elevate any dining experience. His contributions have not gone unnoticed, as evidenced by his recognition as the recipient of the prestigious Michelin Guide Sommelier Award in 2022.
