Meet Wine Folly's Madeline Puckette - the IWSC's fourth shortlisted nominee for Wine Communicator of the Year, sponsored by Vinitaly.

Madeline Puckette is an American author, designer, sommelier, entrepreneur, and co-founder of the blog Wine Folly. With its educational infographics, engaging writing style and effective range of products, Wine Folly quickly established a reputation for delivering useful and accessible content for beginners and experts alike.

Wine Folly went on to be named the IWSC’s Wine Blogger of the Year in 2013, and be featured in The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times. In 2015, Wine Folly’s first visual book, The Essential Guide to Wine, was released through Penguin Random House.

“Now more than ever, the world's beverage community needs a communicator to connect to our new generation of drinkers through education and free knowledge,” Puckette said.

“I hope to usher in our next decade of wine consumers, and would focus my efforts as IWSC Wine Communicator of the Year on reaching new audiences through their channels of communication and maintaining the educator’s commitment towards unbiassed perspective and the joyous spirit of knowledge-giving.”

Judges praised Puckette’s ability to connect to a large audience: “Madeline has managed to combine tremendous skills from very different disciplines in order to bring the world of wine to an entirely new and massive consumer audience. Her ability to distil information via infographics is second to none, and her relaxed presenting style is highly engaging.”

The IWSC Wine Communicator of the Year 2019 will be announced at the Vinitaly Gala Dinner on 6 April in Verona.
