Wine and spirit educator Curly Haslam-Coates is the third shortlisted nominee for IWSC Wine Communicator of the Year, sponsored by Vinitaly.
Curly Haslam-Coates is a wine and spirit educator located in Tasmania. She has been involved in the drinks industry for over two decades, working in retail, hospitality, and cellar door management, before founding her own wine education company Vintage Tasmania.
Vintage Tasmania is an adaptive medium that allows work to be done in a variety of ways with stakeholders from government bodies, corporate entities, other educational institutes, and individual hospitality and tourism businesses.
The company focuses on effecting positive growth through a change in culture. In 2012, Vintage Tasmania, together with local winery Josef Chromy Wines, set up the first – and currently only – Approved Programme Provider of Wine & Spirit Education Trust qualifications in Tasmania.
“My two decades of experience have assisted me in establishing a multi-faceted approach to wine education and consumer interaction,” Haslam-Coates said.
“Curly is exciting. Her take on ‘activist’ is refreshing and innovative. She is truly an asset to her home territory of Tasmania and one to watch,” judges said.
The IWSC Wine Communicator of the Year 2019 will be announced at the Vinitaly Gala Dinner on 6 April in Verona.
