We are delighted to announce our return to Georgia for the IWSC’s third Global Judging event in this magnificent country. This year, we will once again be welcoming entries from both Georgia and Armenia. For the first time, in addition to the unique wines of this part of the world, we will also be judging the diverse spirits of Georgia and Armenia.
The IWSC 2025 Wine & Spirits Judging in Georgia, in partnership with the Gurjaani Wine Festival and National Wine Agency of Georgia, will take place on 27 November – 1 December 2024 in Tbilisi. As always, the IWSC will be bringing to Georgia a stellar team of international judges. This year, we will have dedicated panels for wines and spirits.
Our wine judging panels will be led by the IWSC Wine Judging Committee member, Sarah Abbott MW. Our spirits panels will be overseen by internationally renowned sommeliers, Eric Zwiebel MS and Salvatore Castano.
Local wine and spirits experts will also join the judging team, bringing their invaluable insights and experience.
Christelle Guibert, CEO of IWSC shared:
“During our previous visits to Georgia our team of international judges were pleased to discover not only the country’s rich wine heritage, but also its authentic distilling culture. From chacha to Georgian brandy, there is an exciting diversity of Georgian spirits that deserve a spotlight of their own. We are thrilled that this year, we will also have an opoprtunity to assess the wines and spirits of Armenia. Both countries have longstanding traditions of wine and spirits production and we are looking forward to a judging event that is set to benchmark Georgian and Armenian wines & spirits against the best in the world.”
Soso Galumashvili, President of Gurjaani Wine Festival said:
“The IWSC Wine Judging in Georgia has established itself as a key event for wine producers from Georgia and the wider region. With each passing year, the growing number of both participants and winners highlights the rising competitiveness of Georgian wines on the global stage. This year’s competition holds particular significance as we will introduce our distinctive spirits, most notably chacha, to an international panel of esteemed judges”.
