We’re proud to announce the winner of this year’s IWSC Emerging Talent in Wine Award, sponsored by London Wine Fair.

This category celebrates rising stars across the global wine industry, from winemaking and viticulture to sales, marketing, education and beyond. It’s one of our most dynamic awards, shining a spotlight on individuals who are making their mark and shaping the future of wine.

Jessica Summer has been crowned the IWSC Emerging Talent in Wine 2025. As the founder of Mouse & Grape, Jessica is reshaping the way consumers experience the art of cheese and wine pairing, building a brand rooted in authenticity, innovation, and customer connection.

Judge Cat Lomax shared that, “There’s real momentum behind Jessica's work, not just on the business or commercial side, but also creatively. The way she’s marketing, the things she’s doing, the fact she’s always trying out new and different approaches to communication. It’s all incredibly impressive!”

Fellow judge Sarah Abbott MW added, “You can see her commitment and progression year after year. Jessica is a real asset to the wine industry.”

From Setback to Startup

Jessica's journey into the world of wine and cheese was born out of adversity. After losing her job in the property sector during the pandemic, she launched Mouse & Grape, initially as an Instagram account in 2020. Her passion quickly evolved into a thriving business. With determination, Jessica completed her WSET Level 3 and Academy of Cheese Level 2 qualifications while working as a cheesemonger and wine shop assistant. In December 2021, she officially launched Mouse & Grape as an online luxury brand offering curated hampers and tasting events.

Where Hospitality Meets Education

2024 proved a breakthrough year. Jessica opened the first Mouse & Grape deli-bar in Pinner, London, a physical space bringing her brand to life. The shop became an instant hit, boasting fully booked events and queues out the door. Jessica’s leadership and vision transformed Mouse & Grape into a destination where hospitality meets education, with simple, accessible menus that welcome everyone, from novices to connoisseurs.

Connecting Through Storytelling

Her efforts have not gone unnoticed. Jessica's April Fools' campaign, Wine-Cheese Fusion in a Can, clinched The Drinks Business Social Media Campaign of the Year award, spotlighting her skill in engaging audiences through storytelling. Meanwhile, Mouse & Grape's 76% year-on-year growth, over 150 five-star customer reviews, and a growing media presence, including features in BBC Good Food, Metro, and The Telegraph, affirm her brand's momentum.

Exploring New Horizons

Jessica plans to use her travel bursary to explore Spain's diverse wine regions, enriching Mouse & Grape’s offerings with new, sustainable producers. Her story is a testament to how passion, communication, and an unrelenting commitment to quality can transform a dream into an industry-leading brand.
