The IWSC is delighted to announce it will be visiting Argentina with a panel of international experts to judge local wines ‘in situ’ in July.

Following successful visits to South Africa and Georgia, and having recently announced it will be judging in Austria, Argentina is the fourth country to be included in the IWSC’s 2023 ‘in situ’ judging series.

By bringing its judging experts to Mendoza to taste entrants from across Argentina, producers are able to benefit from more convenient, local delivery. The same stringent judging process will take place, and successful entrants will have their results showcased to the IWSCs international audience via its marketing and communications campaigns.

The team of judges will be led by Master of Wine and IWSC Judging Committee member, Dirceu Vianna Junior. Junior comments: “On behalf of the IWSC, I am delighted that I will be bringing a team of reputed wine judges to Argentina in July to judge the country’s wines ‘in situ’. It will be the first time that this globally recognised competition will be held in Argentina, giving producers the opportunity to have their wines assessed by a panel of judges that will include influential buyers, Masters of Wine and industry leaders.

“We have already seen the success of this immersive judging in other countries, including South Africa, Georgia and Italy. The IWSC offers more than an opportunity to benchmark wines and win medals, can also create business opportunities for producers in the countries the IWSC judging has taken place. Additionally, producers will enjoy the convenience of delivering their wines to Mendoza instead of the UK, whilst having the results shared with the IWSC’s global audience.”

Additional members of the judging panel will be announced in the coming weeks. Judging will take place from Monday 3 July andresults will be announced the following week from Monday 10 July. As well as the IWSC’s international panel of judges, local experts from Argentina will join the judging.

Award entrants will benefit from:

  • Discounted entry fee (£119) into one of the worlds most respected wine awards (usually £159) – using code ARGENTINA119
  • Local delivery to Mendoza
  • Award winning wines put in front of the IWSC’s global audience
  • Inclusion in the IWSC’s 2023 communication campaigns
  • Access to a panel of the IWSC’s internationally renowned wine judges

Entry to the IWSC’s awards is open now. Delivery information will be shared soon. Entry for the IWSC’s Wine Judging in Argentina closes on 19 May 2023.
