IWSC Results Announced!
Out of 46 Gold and Gold Outstanding medals, Portugal and Canada take the lead, with Canada scooping 13 of these (11 of those for their famous Icewine) and 18 for Portugal.
Hot on their heels was England with a record breaking 7 Gold Medals, bolstering England’s position amongst the great wine producing countries of the world.
Top award winners include Court Garden Ditchling Reserve Vintage Brut 2010, Chapel Down Three Graces 2010 and Nutty Brut 2013.
Asia also performed well in this year’s competition, with 19 medals for China, including a Silver for Chinese Icewine - Liaoning Changyu Golden Icewine Valley Golden Diamond Level Icewine 2014 and a Silver medal for Jade Aria Cabernet Sauvignon 2014. Producers Helan Qinqxue Vineyard, Xinjiang Zhongfei Winery and Tiansai Vineyards were awarded 4 medals each, and Taiwanese Muscat - Domaine Shu Sheng Moscato Oro Vino Formosa picked up a Bronze medal from the judges, proving Asia’s winemaking ability.
To mark the release of the IWSC’s Northern Hemisphere wine results, winners’ tastings will take place at stand U50 in the Grand Hall during the London Wine Fair (Tuesday 3rd – Thursday 5th May) at Olympia, London. The line-up includes tastings from 2016 IWSC President, Matteo Lunelli, and IWSC Wine Communicator of the Year 2016, Joe Wadsack.
