Judges praise Valdo’s precision and innovation
Wine Judging Committee Member
Sarah Abbott MW commented: “Valdo's success at the IWSC’s Conegliano Valdobbiadene judging is richly deserved. As a historic yet forward-thinking family-owned winery, Valdo embodies the deep agricultural roots of the region while embracing innovation and quality. It’s especially heartening to see a grower-led winery championing heroic viticulture on the steep slopes of some of Valdobbiadene’s most iconic sites. Their medal-winning wines reflect both precision and place.”
The Story of Valdo Winery
Owned by the Bolla family, whose winemaking roots trace back to the late 19th century, the family initially produced still wines before specialising in sparkling wines. In 1938, the Bolla family took full ownership of a winery dedicated to sparkling production, later renaming it Valdo in 1941.
Today, Valdo remains one of the most respected names in Congeliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore, combining tradition with modern winemaking techniques rooted in the Conegliano Valdobbiadene wine region.
