Altos Planos awarded IWSC’s 2023 Outstanding Spirits Producer Trophy

We’re delighted to award Altos Planos the IWSC 2023 Outstanding Spirits Producer Trophy, sponsored by Forsyths.

Following the announcement of our 11 Spirits Producer Trophy winners, our judges selected just one Spirits Producer to crown as IWSC’s 2023 Outstanding Spirits Producer and this year that coveted accolade has been awarded to Altos Planos.

Altos' incredibly high-quality agave spirits of course played a part in why this company has been awarded this trophy, testament to the quality of their spirits is the many medals they took home at the 2023 IWSC Awards, but on top of that, our judges were greatly impressed by the company commitment to sustainability. From all packaging elements being eco-friendly, to never using pesticides or herbicides in their harvesting, and partnerships with like-minded companies to amplify their impact.

Altos Planos was established with the aim of positively benefitting the community around it – and with carbon-neutral production in mind, which is how its Mijenta brand has become the only B Corp-certified tequila in the industry. From inception the company has been committed to having a positive impact on society. With a deep commitment to sustainability and giving back to local communities, Altos’ goal has been to demonstrate that it is possible to craft award-winning spirits in a responsible manner in order to inspire other larger companies to join them.

What really makes Altos Planos stand out is their approachability. They have an innate ability to tell the story of their spirits and engage new customers but also long-standing afficionados.
