IWSC is one of the oldest wine competitions in the world; founded in 1969, it is a competition that grows from year to year. La Montina presented two Franciacorta for the competition, both awarded with medal:
Ridgeview was one of the first wineries to be devoted to the production of English sparkling wine. Situated in Sussex on the picturesque South Downs. Ridgeview is the current title holder of ‘International Winemaker of the Year’ in the International Wine and Spirit Competition.
Serious recognition on a global scale is coming in now too, as the three major international competitions (International Wine Challenge, International Wine & Spirit Competition and Decanter World Wine Awards) have bestowed a huge number of awards on English wines, mainly sparklers, this spring.
Slowly but surely, English sparkling wines have also seen international recognition on the awards circuit. Ridgeview Wine Estate in East Sussex won International Winemaker of the Year at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in 2018, marking the first time an English winemaker has won this accolade.
Made in conjunction with Aldi and Lyme Bay, a Devon-based winery renowned for its quality offering and innovative approach to winemaking, Lyme Block English Wine has been crafted using England's signature grape, Bacchus, and was recently awarded a prestigious Silver medal at the renowned International Wine and Spirit Competition.
Ridgeview were delighted to welcome the Duchess of Cornwall for a tour of their Estate, whilst on her Royal visit to the county of East Sussex, especially to celebrate their recent success of being crowned ‘Best International Winemaker’ in the International Wine and Spirit Competition.
