Irem Eren announced as IWSC's 2022 Emerging Talent in Wine winner

With so many different roles within the wine industry, from marketing to buying, or sales to finance and many more, our Emerging Talent in Wine award recognises the dedication and commitment individuals put not only towards their day jobs, but also far beyond their roles, looking at how they involve themselves within wider aspects of the wine trade.

Following our announcement last week of our four fantastic shortlisted candidates for this award, we are delighted to name our winner of our Emerging Talent in Wine as Irem Eren.

Irem’s drive and determination to succeed within the wine industry was really evident to our judges. Our judges were so impressed with Irem’s enormous hunger to learn as much as she can about the industry, but above all they were taken aback by Irem’s commitment to teaching others, even whilst currently studying for her own MW qualifications. Irem’s international outlook has seen her leave her hometown of Istanbul to educate WSET level 3 students in Barcelona.

For someone still emerging into the wine trade, our judges could clearly see Irem’s strong vision and her plans for how she hopes to shape the industry. Her goal of making wine more accessible to consumers showed how dynamic she is. Irem has foraged paths for herself in her quest to constantly discover more about the wine industry.

Our judges believed Irem’s application was definitely a memorable one. Irem’s passion for engaging younger consumers in wine was inspiring. Through her efforts in the low and no alcohol movement, Irem sees this as a unique way to contribute to the growth of the wine industry.

Irem will be awarded a £2.5k educational travel bursary from the IWSC Foundation which she intends to put towards building recognition of the innovation and diversity of low and no alcohol wines through her Master of Wine studies. We are excited to see Irem continue to build her presence within the industry.
