THERE’S an opportunity this month <July 17> to discover the secrets of the world’s top wineprofessionals at a one-off tasting with Ewan Lacey, hosted by the International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC).

Wine expert Ewan, who appears on Channel 4’s Cookery School, will host a tasting of some of the world’s best wines – all of them award winners at this year’s competition – in the intimate surroundings of a London club.

Ewan, who is the in-house drinks writer for FHM, will share his knowledge on how to blind taste wines, learn the language of describing them, and encourage you to choose wine with confidence.

Ewan, who works with top celebrity chefs and is the drinks buyer for Jamie Oliver’s Fabulous Feasts, will also share his expertise on how to match wine and food, with a sampling menu on offer throughout the evening.

 Ewan, who is a judge with the prestigious IWSC, said: “We’ll be tasting some of the winners from this year’s International Wine and Sprit Competition, meaning they are, quite literally,some of the best wines in the world. By the end of the evening you’ll have the knowledge to select wine with confidence, whether in a restaurant or supermarket. Wine tasting is fun, it’ll open up a whole world of opportunities to really get the best from wine.”

IWSC’s Anna Grant said: “It promises to be an amazing evening. Ewan is a passionate communicator when it comes to wine and his style is fun informative and relaxed. Whether you are a novice to the world of wine, or have some knowledge, this will be a great learning experience.”

Ewan appears regularly on BBC Radio and has been part of the London restaurant and wine trade since 2000, the year he decided he’d never stick it as a lawyer.
