In the Scotch whisky category, traditionally one of the competition’s largest and most competitive segments, a total of 38 single malt Scotch whiskies were awarded the coveted Gold Outstanding medal.
The 2024 Scotch whisky judging results have been announced by the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC). Thirteen Scotch whiskies were rated at 98 points or higher, winning Gold Outstanding medals. Ten of those whiskies were single malts. The other three Gold Outstanding medals were awarded to blended whisky expressions.
Each year, the International Wine and Spirit Competition awards Spirit Producer Trophies to “the most outstanding producers in their respective categories: agave, gin, rum, vodka, whisky, and several others.” These prestigious trophies represent the IWSC's top accolade.
For the first time ever, there were more gin entries than whisky at the world-leading International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) 2018, with more than 600 entries – nearly a 50% increase from last year’s 400.
These final accolades conclude the year of awards, which include wins in the Luxury Masters competition, 11 awards in the International Wine and Spirits Competition, 12 awards in the Scotch Whisky Masters, and an unprecedented seven double-gold medals out of our seven total whiskies submitted at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The International Wines and Spirits Competition (IWSC) has announced the 2024 Scotch whisky judging results. Ten single malt Scotch whiskies won Gold Outstanding medals: two from Islay and four each from Speyside and the Highlands.
Earlier this year, spirits professionals tasted more than 4,000 spirits to pick out their favorites and awarded gold and silver medal rankings to various winners. Some of the contest's judges recently reunited to hand out trophies to the best of the best of this year's standouts.
The results of the 2022 spirits judging have just been announced by the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC). A total of 85, predominantly UK based, judges evaluated over 4,000 entrants across a dozen major categories.
