While Grenache mostly means red, an array of delicious white and rosé wines are also made from the grape around the world - from Cava and Rioja to the Languedoc-Roussillon and Rhône Valley. The following are seven of the best examples of white and rosé Grenache from the IWSC’s recent tasting of Northern Hemisphere wines.

Cava, Spain

Strawberries and raspberries combine with light florals on attractive nose. Soft and light mouthfeel, good complexity and savoury feel on finish.

Asda 2019asda.png

Saint-Chinian, Languedoc-Roussillon, France

Seductive nose with spice and citrus. The richly textured palate has yellow and stone fruits with good progression and a decent finish.

Louis Bernard 2019louis-bernard.png

Côtes du Rhône, Rhône, France

Delicate nose. The fruit is full-flavoured and round with subtle lemon and a pleasing pithy note. Elegant and long finish.

Bodegas Corral Vine Roots Garnacha Blanca 20197-2.png

Rioja, Spain

Ripe golden apple leads into a sumptuously complex, full-bodied profile of citrus posset and verbena. Broadly textured with a little smoky nuttiness and a generous, oaky finish. Sophisticated and gorgeous.

Cellier des Dauphins Reserve 20197-3.png

Côtes du Rhône, Rhône, France

Refined floral nose with fresh berry and dark cherry fruit. It has a viscous, layered texture and zesty acidity to support it.

Mirabeau Etoile 20196-4.png

Provence, France

Expressive aromatic wine with fruit and savoury notes. Strawberry, bonbon and tangerine flavours remain poised by fresh acidity and an attractive bitter edge.

Mirabeau Classic 20196-5.png

Provence, France

Strawberry with hints of rosehip on an aromatic nose. Generously red fruited with underlying zesty grapefruit. Balanced, round structure with plenty of grip.
