The International Wine and Spirit Competition Announces the Shortlist for ‘Communicator of the Year 2014’



Today (11th March) sees the announcement of the International Wine & Spirit Competition’s (IWSC) shortlist for ‘Communicator of the Year’.



The award, sponsored by Veronafiere was created to highlight an individual who demonstrates exceptional contribution to increasing awareness of wine and spirits. Last year the prestigious award was won by UK-based whisky specialist Dave Broom, who is editor of Whisky Magazine and also a columnist for US publication Whisky Advocate. Past winners have included Jancis Robinson MW, Olly Smith, Oz Clarke and Tim Atkin MW.



This year’s shortlist of nominees:





Jane Parkinson

Jane is a wine expert for BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen, Stylist magazine and wine editor of Restaurant magazine. She has written her first book, ‘Wine & Food’, which is due to be released later this year.













Fiona Beckett

Fiona is one of the UK’s leading experts of food and drink matching, wine columnist for the UK’s top newspapers and magazines and the author of 23 books on food, wine and beer. She is currently wine columnist for the Guardian, a contributing editor to the wine magazine Decanter and wine writer for FOUR magazine.











Victoria Moore

Victoria is the wine columnist for the Daily Telegraph and Olive Magazine. Cocktail columnist for Square Meal and author of ‘How to Drink’ and ‘How to Drink at Christmas’. She is also a judge for the Radio 4 Food & Farming Awards.

Helen McGinn

Helen is an award-winning wine blogger who has recently published her first book ‘The Knackered Mother's Wine Club’. She also runs her own wine business, a wine marketing and communications consultancy. In 2012, Helen won the IWSC Best Blogger Award.









The winner will be announced on 5th April at the Vinitaly Gala Dinner, which will be held in Verona, Italy.
