Established in 1997, Vilafonté is a trailblazing winery born from a partnership between South African and American winemakers. Founded by industry luminaries such as Mike Ratcliffe of Warwick and Dr. Zelma Long of Mondavi, Vilafonté has consistently pursued its mission to create exceptional South African red blends that rival the finest wines globally. With a streamlined portfolio of just three wines, the winery's dedication to quality and craftsmanship is evident in every bottle.
Vilafonté has distinguished itself not only through its exquisite offerings but also via its innovative production methods. The winery is a renowned pioneer in advanced vineyard imaging, developing a yeast isolation project that has garnered industry acclaim and implementing a groundbreaking open-source irrigation technique known as the DIRT (Direct Injection to Rootzone Technique).
