Launched in 2022, our Green Wine Initiative Trophy recognises a myriad of wine businesses across the world who are working hard to minimise their environmental impact. This year, we have received applications from over a dozen wine brands that are passionate about introducing sustainable practices, from preserving biodiversity at the vineyards to relying on renewable energy.

All applications were meticulously reviewed by our international judging panel: Dirceu Vianna Junior MW, Independent Wine Consultant, Educator and Author; Rebecca Palmer, Associate Director at Corney & Barrow; Mick O’Connell MW, Portfolio Developer at Findlader & Co and Christelle Guibert, CEO of the IWSC.

The entrants put their hearts and souls into a greener wine production and transportation, so selecting a shortlist was particularly difficult this year, our judges have shared. While reviewing the applications, our experts were looking for tangible changes implemented by the wine brands, while recognising the importance of small steps on the path to sustainability.

The shortlisted brands for the IWSC 2023 Green Wine Initiative Trophy are:

  • Bolney Wine Estate, Sussex, England
  • Bonterra Organic Estates, California, USA
  • Fattoria La Vialla, Tuscany, Italy
  • Lanchester Wines, UK
  • Lawsons Dry Hills, Marlborough, New Zealand
  • Ridgeview Wine Estate, Kent, England
Congratulations to these outstanding wine businesses. The winner of the IWSC 2023 Green Wine Initiative Trophy will be revealed at our Awards Celebration on 19 October. Tickets to the event are available here
