2022 Wine Judging - deliberations from our judges #10

After a few days away, he’s back. Overseeing our New Zealand judging, we hear from Dirceu Vianna Junior MW on how the day panned out…

“Today we've been testing New Zealand, all entrants from across both the North and South Islands, and I have to say it has been a great day – great judging and great results. Lots of silver medals and a fair few gold, but what is great to see is that the quality and consistency we have come to expect from wines from New Zealand remains. Today has definitely been one to the best judging days I’ve had for a while.

“Across each of the judging panels we say consistency across the board. International varietals were most of the entrants and almost all of the ones we tasted today shone. Wines in our Sauvignon Blanc flights received gold medals, Pinot Noirs, Cabernet’s and Syrahs did and Chardonnay too. In fact, a flight of Chardonnay’s from the North Island was the best flight of the day.”
