Voting has now closed for the 2016 IWSC Independent Retailer of the Year and Online Retailer of the Year Awards and the shortlist will be announced soon, with the winner announced at the IWSC Annual Awards Banquet at the Guildhall on Wednesday 16th November.
The Independent Retailer award, now in its 9th year, recognises the key role played by independent merchants in encouraging the understanding, and sales, of quality wines and spirits. Last year, the award went to South Downs Cellar, and in 2014 was awarded to Birmingham wine merchant Loki Wines.
The Online Retailer Award, sponsored by Esoterica, seeks to recognise and reward the innovative work demonstrated by the many online businesses in the world of wines and spirits. Last year the award went to The Whisky Exchange, and in its inaugural year it was awarded to Master of Malt.
Nominations for both awards closed on May 30th with voting closing on June 20th - once a final shortlist is revealed, judging of the final line-up will take place shortly after.
