IWSC announces new Producer Trophy – 2023 Fruit Spirits Producer Trophy

For the first time in IWSC history, we will be awarding a Producer Trophy to the Fruit Spirits category. The IWSC has seen a surge in entries of fruit spirits over the years, with the quality improving year-on-year.

This category is steeped in history and culture, in the past, the popularity of fruit spirits was mainly seen in regions with a rich tradition of fruit distillation, the drink was celebrated as a cultural symbol. Nowadays, even more countries are producing fruit spirits and the variety of fruits being distilled has continued to evolve.

We are delighted to announce our shortlist for our inaugural 2023 Fruit Spirits Producer Trophy:

• Bimmerle Private Distillery
• Huangshan H&S Wine Estate
• Podrum Palić 1896
• Ziegler Distillery

Many congratulations to those producers shortlisted. Each shortlisted producer will be contacted and asked to complete a short questionnaire which will be reviewed by members of the IWSC’s Spirits Judging Committee. This information will provide our judges with more detailed behind the scenes knowledge of the developments being made at the distilleries.

Based on the feedback from the questionnaire, in combination with the medal results, the Judging Committee will agree a winner, who will be announced on Thursday 19 October at the IWSC’s 2023 Awards Celebration.
