The International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) has launched a new award to recognise an individual who has utilised a blog in promoting and increasing public awareness and interest in wines and/or spirits, in the last 12 months.
Sponsored by Gonzalez Byass, the award was launched at ProWein 2012 and will see judges comprising of key wine and spirit trade personalities, brand owners with experience in social media and previous ‘IWSC Communicator of the Year’ award winners.
"This area is becoming increasingly important in wine writing and it is one which we want to support as a company," says Nicolás Bertino international sales director for Gonzalez Byass, "we would like this award to recognise those bloggers that are pushing the boundaries and inspiring new consumers to experiment and enjoy better wines and spirits."
Sales and Marketing Controller for the IWSC Group, David Kelly comments: “This is a fantastic new award for the Competition which recognises that communication is the wine and spirit trade involves a range of new online media to engage with both the trade and consumer including blogs, video blogs and pod casts”.
The judging criteria involves quality of engagement, blog reach, feedback generated and interaction, overall quality of content and the range of media used (pictures, videos, text).
The winner will be announced at the prestigious IWSC Awards Presentation and Banquet on Wednesday 14th November at London’s Guildhall, and will be able to have a selection of their blog posts included on the IWSC and Gonzalez Byass websites.
