Gin Awards

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The IWSC is home to the world's biggest Gin Awards

The IWSC's Gin Awards is their biggest and most diverse awards category. With thousands of entries coming in from all around the world.

Gin Categories

New to 2024, reflecting trends in the industry, the IWSC has updated it's gin categories:

  • Classic / Traditional Gin - gins that are juniper forward. Although predominantely juniper, there will be a harmony between juniper and other traditional gin botanicals, i.e. coriander seed, angelica root, citrus peels, among others. Including London Dry.
  • Contemporary Gin - while juniper still plays a clear role, it often shares the stage with an ensemble of other botanicals and is less pronounced than in "Classic" gins.
  • Flavoured Gin - allows a particular flavour or combination of flavours other than juniper to intentionally dominate the profile. This is often achieved through post-distillation infusions of fruits, spices, or other flavourings.

The IWSC also have categories for Old Tom, Sloe Gin and Wood Finished/Rested Gin. Gin is a category that is constantly evolving, therefore if you are struggling to find a category for your innovative gin, please contact info@iwsc.net and we will be happy to help.

Mixer add-on awards

We created our Mixer Awards to crown the world's best Gin & Tonic.

A specialist judging panel will assess how well each gin pairs with, our sponsor, Franklin & SonsTonic Water.

The gin & tonic will comprise one part gin to three parts tonic; no ice or garnish is used, and the drink will be tasted blind.

Entry into the Mixer add-on Awards is £139 per gin.

“For brands, achieving a medal at the IWSC is a true benchmark of quality at international level. You get compared to best spirits from a global set of entries, by an elite set of judges focused on objective scoring and feedback-driven discussion.”

Olivier Ward, IWSC Gin Judging Committee
