IWSC announces Chinese Wine Tasting

The IWSC and the Institute of Masters of Wine (IMW) have announced the most comprehensive tasting of Chinese wines ever held in the UK.

In a celebration of the International Wine & Spirit Competition’s 2017 Chinese winners, the IWSC has joined forces with the IMW to present a range of award-winning wines. The event will be the first and biggest of its kind, featuring almost 50 medal-winners from the IWSC 2017.

Senior-level wine professionals are invited to taste and experience the largest collection of new wines at the IMW’s headquarters in Nine Elms, with 100 bottles of the finest examples of wine from some of the best provinces in China.

From classic reds to cabernet franc, shiraz, chardonnay and icewine, the event will provide a snapshot of the constantly-evolving Chinese wine industry. It includes veteran wineries such as Helan Mountain, Silver Heights and Chateau Changyu, as well as lesser known producers.

IWSC general manager Adam Lechmere said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be showing this amazing range of wines from China. The Chinese wine industry is one of the most exciting in the world, and they’ve been winning awards for years.”

“But still, most UK-based wine professionals don’t really know very much about the wines coming out of China, and consumers know next to nothing, so this tasting is a chance to get an idea of what the country can produce”, he added.

The IWSC Chinese Wine Tasting will be held 7 March 2018 from 2-6.30pm at London’s Institute of Masters of Wine. Registration is now open on Eventbrite.
