Zara began her career in the wine trade in 2017 at Majestic Wine, where her interest in wine quickly developed. She progressed through a variety of store roles before moving into buying in June 2022. She joined the Majestic buying team as an Academy Buyer, a development programme for internal talent. She was promoted to Junior Buyer in December 2023 and then Buyer in June 2025. During this time, she oversaw several key categories, most recently; Italy, South Africa, English Still and Sparkling and North America. Prior to this she looked after the Wine Club subscription service, Beaujolais and 'Low & No'. Zara is currently in her second year of the WSET Diploma, having previously completed Levels 2 and 3. Her work has earned industry recognition: she was named one of Harper’s “30 Under 30” in 2024, awarded “Rising Star Wine Buyer” at the London Wine Fair 2025, and featured at #45 on Drinks Retailing’s Top 100 Most Influential list in 2025. As of January 2026, Zara has taken on a new role as Premium Wine Buyer for Sainsbury’s, where she continues to champion quality, innovation, and strategic range development.
