Zara began her career in the wine trade in 2017 as a weekend sales assistant at Majestic Wine. Her passion for learning about and tasting wine quickly grew, and she progressed through several store roles, eventually becoming Senior Assistant Manager at the Haslemere branch. In June 2022, I joined the buying team as an Academy Buyer  (a development programme for internal talent) and was promoted to Junior Buyer in December 2023, then Buyer in June 2025.

During her time in the buying team, she’s overseen key areas including the Wine Club subscription service, Low and No, Beaujolais, English still and sparkling wines, Italy, and South Africa. She has recently taken on responsibility for North America. She’s currently in her second year of the WSET Diploma, having previously completed Levels 2 and 3 while working in stores.

She was pleased to be named one of Harper’s 30 Under 30 in 2024, awarded ‘Rising Star Wine Buyer’ at the London Wine Fair, and listed at #45 on Drinks Retailing’s Top 100 Most Influential in 2025.
