Having amassed multiple medals at our 2022 awards, we’re delighted to award Wessex Distillery the IWSC 2022 UK Gin Producer Trophy, sponsored by The Gin Guild.
Our judges singled out Wessex Distillery – a family-run, Surrey-based enterprise – for a clutch of awards this year, including two 95-point gold medals for their Old Tom and English Sloe Gin.
Jonathan Clark, along with his children Amy and Christopher, are the team behind Wessex Distillery, which was founded in 2017. “We keep it traditional when making our British gin,” they say, “adding our own modern twists with innovative flavours.”
Wessex Distillery is small but ambitious. “We do most of our business on social media,” says Jonathan. “We sell to seven countries across the world at the moment, and we’re looking to expand into New Zealand and Australia soon.”
From their inventive gin-lab experience – which culminates in creating a bespoke gin to take home – to their portfolio of unusual flavours (including the likes of Ginger & Sicilian Lemon or Spiced Gin), Wessex live and breathe craft gin. “We buy English spirit, and source our botanicals locally wherever possible,” says Jonathan.
Wessex have an equally exciting approach to keeping things sustainable: they are currently working on refill pouches so that their beautiful glass bottles can be reused as well as recycled.
Hats off to Wessex Distillery and thank you to our trophy sponsor, The Gin Guild.
