Cooley seeks to use IWSC success to boost US sales

Ireland’s Cooley Distillery is looking to boost sales in the US following success at the International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC) in London, where their brands picked up eight gold medals.
 
“The Irish whiskey industry is in rude health. There are opportunities in many markets around the world where Irish whiskey exports are benefitting from the industry’s collective success but the US market in particular presents the greatest opportunity of all,” MD Jack Teeling told Ireland’s Business World.
 
“Over the past 10 years there has been a 300pc increase in Irish whiskey sales in the US and it is now the largest market in the world for Irish whiskey. The market is expected to grow by high double digits for the next five years. The International awards we receive each year for the quality of our products will enable us to take advantage of this opportunity”.
 
Cooley’s Connemara Peated Single Malt Irish whiskey range collected 4 Gold medals, including two Best in Class, while both the Lockes 8 Year Old Single Malt and Tyrconnell 10 Year Old Madeira Finish Single Malt picked up Gold again.
 
The newly launched Kilbeggan 18 Year Old Deluxe blend and Greenore 18 Year Old Single Grain both claimed Gold at their first attempt at the IWSC.
 
“This latest success at the International Wine & Spirits Competition is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our staff. It is a further ringing endorsement on the International stage of the quality and consistency of the whiskey being produced by Cooley,” Teeling added.
