2021 Back to School Tasting

To celebrate the reopening of the trade, the IWSC Foundation, together with its event partners, is proud to share details of a new tasting created exclusively for students within our drinks industry.

As a result of the pandemic, tastings over the past year have been limited, restricting the learning opportunities for individuals studying toward their MW, MS or WSET qualifications, as well as for colleagues simply looking to develop their career.

Coinciding with a return to our workplaces and the reopening of events, the IWSC Foundation, is delighted to host its first Back to School tasting.

This new educational event has been created in collaboration with industry partners WSET, IMW, The Drinks Trust, Trade Hospitality, Cider Is Wine and Sensible Wine Services and is open to all students and members of the UK drinks industry.

The tasting will provide guests an opportunity to sample over 200 wines and spirits. With a focus on some more unusual wine producing regions, including China, Canada, and parts of Eastern Europe, as well as spirits including Baijiu, Shochu and Rum, and worldwide whiskies, vodkas and brandies. The IWSC will be showcasing a selection of its Northern Hemisphere gold medal winners and Cider Is Wine will be on hand to showcase medal winners from 4 continents of quality 100% juice, not-from-concentrate fermented ciders, perries and fruit wines.

As well as the walk around tasting, there will also be opportunities for attendees to enjoy some blind tasting practice.

The event is free to attend, though there will be a collection for The Drink Trust. All donations made on the day will be matched by the IWSC Foundation.

The 2021Back to School tasting will take place at China Exchange in London’s Soho, between 12 and 6pm, on Monday 11th October. To register to attend, sign up via here.
