Magda Surguladze is a true authority in the world of wine. Her remarkable journey began as a Research Officer at the Georgian Economic Development Institute in 2001 and has since taken her on a path dedicated to Georgia's wine heritage. She has been a key member of the National Wine Agency's Degustation Commission since 2005, contributing to the recognition of Georgian wines.
As a Senior Sommelier at the GMC Group's Kalakuri restaurant from 2006 to 2010, Magda showcased her exceptional wine knowledge. Her international experience as Supervisor of the Beverage Section at MAF Carrefour Tbilisi expanded her horizons.
Joining the iconic Funicular restaurant under the GMT Group in 2013, Magda solidified her reputation as a prominent sommelier. She continues to excel in her role as Senior Sommelier at the Hotel Museum and ICR Food and Beverage.
Magda's dedication to education is evident in her roles as a lecturer at the Georgian Agrarian University, Georgian Wine School - Vinemo, and the Georgian Culinary Academy.
Her impressive academic background includes a Ph.D. in Agriculture from the University of Georgia, master's and bachelor's degrees in wine making technology, and WSET Level 2 certification.
Magda has also contributed her expertise as a jury member in prestigious wine competitions, including the Eurasia Wine and Spirits Competition, Internationale Qvevri Wine Competition, and the IWSC.
