Local South African wine company signs international exclusive with IWSC

WS Media, publishers of the highly popular e-zine Wine Extra and organisers of The Wine Show, have signed an exclusive agreement to be the South African media partner of the prominent International Wine and Spirits Competition.
 
The agreement gives TWS Media exclusive access to IWSC judging sessions, tastings and results announcements. In addition, TWS Media will also be showcased by the IWSC on various event platforms such as ProWein, Vinitaly, London Wine Fair and Vinexpo.
 
According to Wine Extra editor Maryna Strachan, this is indeed a coup for her publication. “We are absolutely delighted to have scored this amazing deal as it is definitely an indication that we are being taken seriously as a definitive wine publication in this country and beyond. I have no doubt that being partnered with the largest and most prestigious competition of its kind in the world will add to our reputation. We have always focused on strong, unbiased editorial content presented in a fun, understandable way and our agreement with the International Wine and Spirits Competition will certainly add another dimension to our content,” mentions Strachan.
 
Wine Extra, which is disseminated monthly to a subscription base of more than 11000 people, will also have first refusal on interview opportunities, will deliver editorial support to the competition and will carry an exclusive IWSC supplement. Some of the gold medal and trophy winners in the wine category of the 2011 competition will also be featured at this year’s edition of The Wine Show Jo’burg from 4 to 6 May 2012.
 
“This agreement offers mutual benefit to both parties as we’ll be able to increase our subscription base, bump up our editorial content and increase our footprint in the local and international wine arena. Visitors to our show in Johannesburg will also have the unique opportunity to taste and even buy award-winning wines rarely available in this country. Simultaneously, the IWSC will gain additional exposure to a completely new target audience,” explains Strachan.
