We're looking for the world's best mezcal or tequila & tonic... Agave has been following the footsteps of the gin boom and is increasingly gaining more of the limelight. Historically associated with shots, tequila and mezcal are now much sought-after spirits, amongst bartenders and consumers, for making longer drinks.

With the rise in popularity of tequila & tonic and mezcal & tonic, Agave & Tonic is one of our newer categories. A specialist judging panel will assess how well each spirit (or low or lighter alcohol alternative) pairs with Franklin & Sons Tonic Water.

As consumers' appetite for longer drinks with lower ABVs continues to grow, so does the rise in popularity of whisky highballs. No longer a drink only meant to be enjoyed neat, whisky has evolved into a bartender's dream, with the whisky highball still able to perfectly showcase the quality of a whisky, but as a drink to be savoured for longer.

Rum, in particular premium and spiced rum, has enjoyed an increase in value sales and is now at the heart of a burgeoning cocktail trend.

The Paloma, a refreshing cocktail that has gained much popularity in recent years. Bartenders, and consumers alike, are raving over the lightness and the lower sugar content when compared to other popular cocktails.

Expanding our popular mixer awards, the Paloma category is new for 2024. A specialist judging panel will assess how well each tequila/mezcal pairs with Franklin & Sons Grapefruit Soda.

The Paloma will comprise one part tequila/mezcal to three parts grapefruit soda; no ice or garnish is used, and the drink will be tasted blind.
