Tasting Note
" Opaque forest-oak brown, rising through the spectrum – chestnut, tawny, ruddy amber, rose – to a golden clear rim. The flavour shading is just as intricate: initially, dried violet and rose petals, orange and lime zest, espresso coffee, chocolate sauce, banoffee pie, sticky date pudding, dried cranberries, blueberries, prunes, and roast chestnuts. The palate is decidedly sweet but has so many side avenues of bitter, smoky, nutty, fruity and spicy that the sugar elements just blend in. A silken flow in the mouth of morello cherries, balsamic, earth – a low-key oaken thrum, mocha and toffee. A surprising amount of acidity keeps this from being cloying and shepherds the flavours beautifully. The aftertaste keeps echoing back for minutes. Sublime. "
