Argentine wines that had been given awards at the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) will be recognised at a reception offered by Alicia Castro, Argentine Ambassador to the UK, to the wineries participating at the London International Wine Fair.
At the event, that will take place on Tuesday 22nd just after the fair’s opening, Ambassador Castro will address top producers of wine, importers, distributors, restaurants and top personalities of the wine industry. She will then be presented with a bottle of the award winning wines by the representatives of the wineries Mauricio Lorca, La Riojana and Carelli.
A high official of the Argentine Embassy commented: ‘Not only this is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the high quality of Argentine wine but also to recognise the achievements of Argentine producers at the prestigious International Wine and Spirit Competition’.
Since Alicia Castro was appointed Argentine Ambassador to London in January she has made it her goal to promote national wine industry which she regards highly important to the country’s economy. Wine is the third import from Argentina to the UK market and has a big potential to keep growing steadily.
David Kelly, IWSC Group Sales and Marketing Controller commented: “As an internationally recognised and respected Competition, the IWSC constantly strives to help promote our medal winners. Given the arrival of Alicia Castro, we are delighted that a number of our medal winners are going to be recognised and we are only happy to support these wineries.”
The IWSC will judge the 2012 round of Argentine wines later on in the year, giving producers the opportunity to submit their latest vintages and therefore maximising the amount of promotion time available to winners– a feature which sets the IWSC apart from other international competitions.
