IWSC 2023 Austrian wine results announced
Following two days of judging in Austria, 13 of our international judges have tasted their way through over 450 wines and we are delighted to announce the results of our 2023 Austrian Wine Awards, in partnership with Austrian Wine.
Overseeing the panels of experts was Master of Wine and Judging Committee member Dirceu Vianna Junior. Junior was joined by Freddy Bulmer, Salvatore Castano, Emma Penman, Matteo Montone MS, Richard Lewis, Marien Rodriguez, Igor Sotric, Cat Lomax, David Kermode, Megan Clarke, Eric Zwiebel MS and Sophia Longhi.
Junior was mightily impressed by the wines judged in Austria, stating that "the standard was very high". Junior commented, "the IWSC has very high standards for their rigorous judging process, so for a wine to score a medal is no mean feat. It was fantastic to see so many of the flights of Austrian wines scoring silver and gold medals across all wines - a real testament to the brilliant wines being produced in Austria."
17 gold medals were awarded to outstanding wines. Additionally, an impressive 136 silver medals were awarded and 229 bronze medals. Full results can be viewed here.
