The IWSC showcased a selection of 24 medal-winning wines at the launch of London’s newest member’s club last night.
Created by Master Sommeliers Gearoid Devaney and Xavier Rousset, TRADE is a social space dedicated to the drinks industry, with a focus on people working in hospitality.
The wines showcased by the IWSC included two Gold Outstanding medal winners, Grüner Veltliner Ried Dechant Alte Reben 2016 and Groot Constantia Grand Constance 2015, the former of which was awarded the Grüner Veltliner Trophy in the IWSC 2018.
Following the launch, the IWSC will continue to enjoy a close partnership with TRADE, showcasing award-winning bottles from the competition at the club every month.
A dozen medal-winning wines will be selected each month by IWSC Wine Director Christelle Guibert to showcase to the members of TRADE. The selection will include new discoveries and wines not available in the UK, as part of the IWSC’s strategy to link producers with buyers and wine influencers.
“TRADE is a great initiative from industry leaders Xavier and Gearoid,” said Guibert.
“We are thrilled to be working closely with them, showcasing and sharing with trade members some exciting and under-the-radar IWSC-winning wines.”
Alongside a regularly changing drinks menu curated by leading guest bartenders, TRADE will also offer members training events, wine and spirit tastings, talks, masterclasses, dinners and career guidance sessions.
“We are excited to bring together the food and drink community under one roof,” said founder Gearoid Devaney MS.
“This is the opportunity for like-minded hospitality professionals to socialise in a relaxed atmosphere without breaking the bank.”
TRADE is open now at 23 Frith Street, London. Annual membership is £190; applications for March 2019 are now open.
