Professor and Director of Oenology Engineering

Demei Li is a renowned figure in the wine industry, serving as a professor and director of Enology Engineering at Beijing University of Agriculture. His training in viticulture and oenology began at Chateaux Palmer while studying Viti-Oeno-Economie at ENITA de Bordeaux.


Demei plays a pivotal role in the Chinese wine sector as a member and vice-director of the Chinese Wine Technology Committee and vice-president of the Chinese Viticulture Society. He also serves on the National Wine Judge Board. His consultancy work with vineyards such as Helan Qingxue in Ningxia and Tiansai, Silk Road Vineyard in Xinjiang has led to these vineyards winning over 500 medals from prestigious wine competitions.


Internationally, Demei has judged wine competitions in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Europe, and has been a prominent speaker on Chinese wine consumer preferences. Since 2014, he has chaired the Industry Forum at Prowine Shanghai. He contributes to numerous prestigious wine publications, including DecanterChina.com, and has authored influential books such as "Wine-Communication from a Chinese Winemaker" and "Wine Grapes Varieties." He also contributed to the 4th edition of "The Oxford Companion to Wine."


Demei's contributions to the wine industry have been recognized with several awards, including the French Mérite Agricole in 2015 and the Vinitaly International Award in 2019. His extensive knowledge and influence continue to shape the future of the wine industry both in China and globally.
