Jane Parkinson announced as 2014 Communicator of the Year

The International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) has announced wine writer and presenter, Jane Parkinson, as the ‘2014 Communicator of the Year’. 

 

Sponsored by Veronafiere, the award was announced at Vinitaly’s opening Gala Dinner in Verona on Saturday 5th April. The accolade, awarded annually, highlights an individual who demonstrates exceptional contribution to increasing awareness of wine and spirits. 

 

Jane was up against some tough competition on the 2014 shortlist, Fiona Beckett, wine columnist for the Guardian; Victoria Moore, wine columnist for the Daily Telegraph and Helen McGinn, award-winning wine blogger and Daily Mail columnist. 

 

As the 19th recipient of this prestige award, Jane joins the IWSC hall of fame of past winners, including; whisky specialist Dave Broom, wine critics Jancis Robinson MW and Charlie Arturaola and wine writers Oz Clarke and Olly Smith. 

 

Jane is currently a wine expert for BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen, Stylist magazine and wine editor for Restaurant Magazine. She has also written her first book, ‘Wine & Food’, which is due to be released later this year.

 

Commenting on her win, Jane Parkinson said, “Countless heroes and heroines of mine in the drinks industry have been recipients of this award in the past, so to say I’m delighted to win this year’s IWSC Communicator of the Year award is a huge understatement!”
