With so many different roles within the wine industry, from marketing to buying, or sales to finance and many more, our Emerging Talent in Wine accolade recognises the dedication and commitment individuals put not only towards their day jobs, but also far beyond their roles, looking at how they involve themselves within wider aspects of the wine trade.
Following our announcement last week of our five fantastic shortlisted candidates , we are delighted to name the winner of our Emerging Talent in Wine Trophy, sponsored by London Wine Fair as Alex Brogan.
Following his start in the wine industry, working for Majestic Wine, Alex recently returned to the trade, founding Not Yet Named Wine Co whilst he is studying Viticulture and Oenology at Plumpton and working for The Sampler. The judges really loved the concept of his democratic wine making business, a process which consumers are in control of, investing in the wine before going on to decide how the wine should be made, bottled and branded. A great innovation and impressive how the brand identity is so strong after less than a year of the concept being created.
Congratulations to Alex, who intends to use his £2.5k educational travel bursary prize money (should his next vintage release sell enough to cover costs) to subsidise customers’ travel for the Not Yet Named Wine Co’s next release from Portugal, where they will blend the barrels to create their perfect wine.
