This award was created to recognise individuals working in spirits who go above-and-beyond their role, demonstrating dedication and passion for spirits beyond the scope of their day job.
Following last week’s announcement of our 2023 shortlist for the Emerging Talent in Spirits trophy, agreeing an overall winner for this award was no easy task. But a winner was agreed and the IWSC is delighted to name Matias Luciani as the worthy recipient for this year’s trophy.
Matias is the founder of his own club, Rosario Whisky Club, sharing his knowledge and hosting tasting events to broaden understanding within Argentina’s closed spirits economy. He will use his travel bursary prize to further his travel plans to international distilleries for the benefit of his whisky club members. Also as part of his award, he will be invited by the trophy sponsor Whyte & Mackay to join the 60th anniversary celebrations for of the Jura distillery later this year.
