IWSC celebrates third successful US tasting

Leading American sommeliers, winegrowers and buyers were among the judges at the International Wine and Spirit Competition’s third US tasting.
 
Following the well-attended event, at California’s Culinary Institute of America, winning wines are awaiting shipment to the UK for expert chemical analysis.
 
IWSC’s Managing Director, Allen Gibbons said: “We’ve been judging US wines in California for the past three years and have built up an excellent working relationship with a fine group of judges. We’re delighted to be celebrating another successful year for the IWSC in USA with a great response from the local producers.”
 
Philip Goodband MW, chair of the IWSC Technical & Judging Committee, revealed the criteria and marking system to a group of 28 judges to calibrate their palates for the true blind tasting.
 
The results, and the shortlist for US Producer of the Year, will be revealed at this year’s London Wine Fair on May 22 and on the IWSC’s website.
 
The winner of the US Producer of the Year will be announced at the IWSC’s prestigious Awards Banquetin November along with the trophy winners.
